Asbury Park is the undisputed music capital of the Jersey Shore. Convention Hall opened in 1930. All genres of music played the venue over the years. The 50’s hosted doo-wop and traveling rock n’ roll revues. The 60’s hosted a who’s who (The Doors, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and many, many more) of the booming rock n’ roll scene. Then came the 70’s, oh, the 70’s, in addition to all of the major national acts, the local music scene caught fire! Bruce Springsteen, the East Street Band and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes launched Asbury into the national spotlight in the ’70’s. New clubs opened- The legendary Stone Pony, The Fast Lane (where Bon Jovi got their start) and others.
Today there is a rich, diverse original music scene that brings in both local and national acts. The Saint, Langosta Lounge, House of Independents, The Wonder Bar, Asbury Lanes, Empress Hotel and Asbury Park Yacht Club join the still rockin’ Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre and Stone Pony to form the best music scene around!
